The 20th jubilee: May pulmonary Days 2012

From 17 to 19 May 2012, the traditional, twentieth consecutive May pulmonary days in 2012 were held, during which the following topics were discussed:

  • lung cancer,
  • asthma and HOBP,
  • pleural disease,
  • rare lung diseases,
  • nonspecific inflammatory lung diseases,
  • vascular disease and pulmonary hypertension
  • respiratory failure,
  • mechanical ventilation,
  • chronic pulmonary heart,
  • physiology of breathing and pulmonary function,
  • sleeping sickness,
  • surgical lung diseases,
  • treatment of critically ill and
  • other pulmonary diseases and conditions that require a multidisciplinary approach.

Given the fact that this year held the twentieth jubilee of May pulmonary days, the Association of pulmonologists / pneumophtisiologist Republic of Srpska and Department of Pulmonary Diseases, Clinical Center of Banja Luka organized a number of additional activities with the specific objective of promoting respiratory medicine as a multidisciplinary science which today, as well as in the future should carry a significant weight in the fight against noncommunicable diseases and cancer, as well as continuing the fight against tuberculosis. Among other things, pulmonologists held lectures on bronchial asthma, tuberculosis, and the hazards of smoking in primary and secondary schools .

One of the sponsors of this event was New Technology Ltd. Sarajevo. In addition to the financial support of the meeting, we have traditionally supported it by expertise, by presented the professional work, which was later published in the Proceedings of the Congress “May pulmonary days of 2012.”

The paper was written by the service manager Mr. Almir Badnjevic,dipl.ing.el., and was presented by ing. Gordan Šehić.

The topic of the paper was: „Advantages and disadvantages of Impulse Oscillometry compared to spirometry in the diagnosis of asthma and other lower degree damages of the respiratory system“.
